Our full name is “enCompass Church – the Multicultural Congregation of Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church”. We are part of a church which has services in 3 different languages (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese). Click here for WCAC’s launch site.
Our Name – enCompass Church
As the compass is often considered one of the great inventions of China, the name pays tribute to our Chinese heritage without defining us as a “Chinese only” congregation. A compass is a navigational instrument for determining direction relative to the Earth’s magnetic poles. In choosing a name that includes “compass” we are recognizing that the Holy Spirit is our “compass” who guides us and gives direction relative to our aim to “follow Jesus”. By identifying ourselves as enCompass, we desire to be a congregation that encompasses a wide range of people from different backgrounds.

At enCompass, our goal in everything we do is to encourage spiritual growth. We realize that everyone is unique and there are different catalysts for spiritual growth for each person depending on where they are on their spiritual journey.
People encounter Jesus differently.
Jesus responds accordingly.
For this reason, our spiritual growth plan is centered on 4 invitations of Jesus Christ that reflect different ways that people in the New Testament encountered Jesus:

Each of the four compass points in our logo represents one of these invitations. This pathway for discipleship serves to guide all of us here at enCompass in our journey and helps to bring purpose and meaning to all we do.
